Cabinets must be fitted, level and packed. Sinks and hobs should be on site, still in boxes, so cut-outs are taken from the real article. The templater will digitally trace the run, mark joints, and note where a courtyard door swing eats the overhang. You walk with them. If a dimension feels wrong, say so before they leave; a solid-surface sheet is cut off site and will not be scribed like a timber board. You should receive a drawing the same day. Check lengths, the breakfast return, and the edge thickness. Reply in writing. Silence is not approval if you later wanted twelve millimetres and received forty.

Fit day is dry-place, pull joints, then other trades

Clear the run. Other trades should have finished painting the walls that meet the upstand. The fitter dry-places the pieces, pulls the joints with colour-matched adhesive, and trims the sink if it is integral. You should see a continuous white plane, not a row of clamps left to cure until Monday unless that was agreed. Ask how long until you can load the top; acrylic joints have a real clock. Plumbing and electrical connections are not part of a worktop fit unless the quote said so. Book those trades for the afternoon, not the morning, so they are not standing on an open joint.

Lock three decisions before anyone programmes a cut

Colour code, edge thickness, and whether the breakfast bar is a curve or a square return. Those three lock fabrication. If you change a curve after the template, you buy a new programme, not a favour. Keep the process operational and the high-key kitchen stays on the calendar you were given. When the fitter leaves, sight the plane from the courtyard door, wipe a black cloth along the joints, and keep an offcut in a drawer. That is the whole aftercare kit. No theatre, no extra visit unless a joint fails the sight test.
